my eyes have seen the glory, now I'm a born-again atheist

Today I have asymmetric stubble: my rechargable electric razor powered out after I'd only done half my face and I've never wet shaved in my life. This for someone deep in the throes of their quarter-life crisis strikes me as a particularly glaring developmental failure; I have, on the other hand, now succesfully drunk A Whole Pint of Beer (three of them in fact . . .) thanks to my trip to Prague, since I was told I had to drink beer if I went there and the Czech beer was actually much nicer than any others I've attempted; still no closer to drinking A Whole Cup of Coffee though . . .

Suspect I won't get round to writing anything more detailed about Prague, so suffice to say it was lovely and if you're particularly hungry for details feel free to ask; have been busy doing/not doing other things though both before and after.

The Mind Hacks talk was hilarious, possibly more for the experience than the content, although for the first time I had a wierd sensation of meeting up with a bunch of school friends, looking around and seeing them as adults rather than overgrown kids in an adults world. I think there are parts of me that are finally beginning to feel like a grown-up, altohugh my behaviour at other times may somewhat belie that.

Have been hitting the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival this year, having never managed it any of the past four I've been living here: saw a piece put togetehr by someone the Queeruption guys know (This is What we Have Done and This is What we Are Doing) which had the same level of chaos and camaraderie as a Queeruption event transferred to the National Film Theatre which was fun (although I failed to make it to the Queer Tea Dance last night as the crowning achievement of my day of utter indolence) and the other was a slight and subtle Hong Kong based film called When Beckham Met Owen about two football-crazy friends.

Failed to get Glastonbury tickets (I think we concentrated too much on the phones and not enough on the website) but have got one-day tickets for the Saturday at Reading which has an awesome line-up (foo fighters, kings of leon, razorlight, charlatans, the tears) which was the biggest practical achievement of a weekend of dancing, hanging out, barbeques, crosswords and chatting to cool peeps that was mostly so relaxed it was horizontal.

WHat appeals to you about Exit Music For A Film? Personally, I prefer Let Down off that album...

it's the etherealness of it that I like, the building of the music and the emotional power . . .

Righ with you on the wet shave thing. I've used an electric razor since I started shaving. Until about 2 months ago, when I decided I'd try a manual razor. It takes longer, but I find it more satisfying somehow...
