things making me glee-happy at the moment:
going to see Kinsey, which I very much approved of (it has Tim Curry in it!)
bathtime conversations
Wainwright being next to Waits in the CD racks (I now have the new album)
booking a ticket for the Mind Hacks talk online and seeing Tom and Matt being part of a four-optioned pull down menu alongside David Baddiel and Julien Clary (okay, it was the fame, not the quality, of the company which impressed me . . .)
two weeks until I go to Prague
things annoying me at the moment:
the internet still being down at work
being offended by something (for possibly the second time ever: despite my friend J.'s bizarre belief that I live in a near-perpetual state of moral outrage, I am in general remarkably hard to offend) which is accompanied by a wierd feeling of guilt as though the fault is mine for failing to see the joke; indeed, trying to examine things rationally, there is certainly no little hypocrisy in my reasons for taking offence but nonetheless the feeling remains . . .
not making it to the New Deal for the Dead at lunchtime
life-scheduling: things I want to do clashing with other things I want to do, not having people to do some things I'd really like to do with [no, not like that: stop sniggering, that means you
reindeerflotila] and somehow still having some evenings where I find myself niddling around at a loose end
all in all, definitely a positive balance though, and finally a question:
is it deeply androcentric of me to see eroticised pictures of men and unquestioningly assume that they're gay images rather than from a female perspective?

Date: 2005-03-10 11:57 pm (UTC)hmm, I suspect I, as a straight female, would probably look at them from said female perspective and then do a semi-double take and think 'maybe they are for gay men???' - I don't think it matters as long as you enjoy them :D
and then you get mixed up when you realise that the majority of Yaoi (male-male sex / love stories) are written by women for women....... so if there are pictures for these stories are they for women or are they for men or are they for women who think they are for men but they are for the woman?

Date: 2005-03-11 12:13 am (UTC)as to yaoi, i always am azed at the lack of bishounen based fanfic by men, for men, to provide the flipside to the vast amoutns of yaoi by women, for women.
