spectacularly failed to make it to any of the ESF or Beyond ESF stuff this weekend, but had a really nice time nonetheless: with all the stuff the queeruption people were involved in particularly I've been scrupulously writing details of all their events and meetings into my diary with the best will in the world for the last six months and then never turning up, even when (like tonight) I'm not doing anything else & I guess I ought to either commit to being involved properly or giving up the pretense.
Had lunch with
iruineverything,
pinata23 and Marc on saturday which was nice, although the fact that it was so unusual for three people from my time at LMH to be gathered together kinda speaks volumes about how little (beyond three or four very important individuals) I've taken with me from my time there. It was also the first time L. had seen Marc in a couple of years so it wasn't long before the uninhibited religious arguments which pretty much constituted my four year undergraduate experience picked up where they left off, but I didn't leave so I figure I must be getting better at being able to be around that kind of thing than I was by the time I graduated.
Then I yo-yoed between Holborn and Islington and various mutating and intersecting groups of friends and friends of friends gathering to chat in cafes and bars before going down to the 10th anniversary party for Schnews in a disused cinema in Elephant & Castle with Tom, Kev and a reasonably sized horde of ESF delegates and their ilk. The space was really cool, the music (whilst a bit more funky than anything I'd usually listen to) good and some of the VJing of the images being projected up above the main stage absolutely awesome.
The rest of the weekend has been gloriously inactive for me: I'd had K. over the night before so Friday I stayed in recuperating and today I haven't ventured further than the Greasy Spoon, although that's not to say it hasn't had some very nice moments.
