got to work only to find the outreach session had been called off for me cos one of the workers was ill & they only ever go out in pairs, so since I's in town I went to the cinema to catch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind whilst it's still showing which was interesting & fun. The audience consisted almost entirely of a dozen of us there by ourselves, each with our own row, alone in the dark, which- whilst I'm generally up for resisting the atomisation of society- is a kind of film-going I really enjoy; doesn't really work the same with plays, although I've been to dozens by myself, cos there's always the awkwardness of the interval & theatre audiences are generally more responsive & therefore aware of each other. Guess one of the perks of my new hours, whatever they end up being, may be the opportunity to go to more cheap & sparsely attended matinees . . .

I love virtually deserted cinemas. It's my favourite time to go. Nobody annoying there. Everyone's there just to quietly watch the film. It feels like the whole thing's just been put on for you. I like it.

How's you?
