A couple of Sundays ago N & I tried to take advantage of things gradually opening up by heading down into town on the understanding that commercial galleries were allowed to open (akin to shops), even if others weren't, although none of the ones around Bond St seemed to have taken up this opportunity. I had feared the re-opening of shops would make the centre of London somewhere to avoid but, devoid of tourists or visitors, it was still pretty dead and, after poking around a bit, we headed up to Dalston in time for the Curve Garden to open for the afternoon, where we sat for a very pleasant couple of hours, heading home in time for family zoomtime.

I had D&D Monday, then chatted with R&L on the Tuesday, after some rather hectic rushing around at work, supporting a guest who'd been arrested; for the same reason on Wednesday, when I usually work from home, I ended up having to rush down to the office at the end of the day, then back again to meet up with M, who has moved really close to use in Tottenham, and went for a wander around the local parks with him, catching up. After all this socialising, I was secretly quite pleased when Thursday's possible plans got cancelled and Friday I just had the usual Gaz B livestream.

N didn't have to go into work until the evening on Saturday, so we headed down to Crystal Palace, just about found somewhere we could have lunch outside at a pub, and wandered around the park, which was pretty interesting as I'd only really seen the dinosaur bit before. We kept saying how nice it was just to be somewhere different. We also had someone finally moving into the empty (small) room in the house, a friend of housemate L's, so at least someone who's a known quantity. On Sunday I met up with Cousin A and Culture Club Claire to get the train out to Benfleet, from where we walked along the Thames estuary to Leigh-on-Sea and back again, taking in the ruins of Hadleigh Castle and (after quite a wait) a roast in a pub garden before catching the train back to London.

We had D&D last Monday, Baby Strange doing a video premiere and online chat on Tuesday evening, then nothing much for the rest of the week, other than Gaz B on Friday again. After some domestic stuff on Saturday, I headed to The George Tavern near Shadwell (after lots of attempts to find somewhere with space!) for some drinks in their garden with R, who it was great to catch up with. Yesterday N and I headed out and managed to get some (lovely) brunch in Spitalfields Market, poked around a few places, including some surprise gardens just off the Grays Inn Road and some cake on the grass behind Kings Cross, before heading home for family Zoom time and online chat with a couple of N's friends. We had passed through Smithfield, where I returned to today for a birthday lunch for M at Smiths of Smithfield, which was very tasty and again felt like (apart from having to brave the wind on their roof terrace) normal life may be starting to creep back in.
