I actually had a pretty quiet week before Xmas: I was home Monday night but too knackered to do anything more than veg out, then Tuesday night I went with Ketch and Cousin A to see The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Barbican: it was a pretty broad farce, entertaining enough but most exciting for the fact that (having watched some of the Hollow Crown productions on DVD recently) I've now seen some kind of production of all 37 of the canonical Shakespeare plays. N came over on Wednesday night and on Thursday I did a trawl round some far-flung shops to finish my Christmas shopping and spent the rest of the evening in an endless wrapping fugue.

J was celebrating her 30th on Friday and gathered people together at a large Wetherspoon's in the city which, on the last Friday before Xmas, was thronged with people to an almost overwhelming extent: we'd manged to snag a little area though, N came along for a bit and the assorted friends were all really nice. I then begun my festive travels Saturday morning, heading down to Petersfield for Xmas with K and L and their families, which was all very drama-free and lovely: some food, a couple of games, the kids mostly entertaining themselves, then several of us all just crashing out around the living room.

I snaked rather tortuously on the trains across Hampshire to drop in on Lee & family the next afternoon: his eldest was back from uni with his girlfriend so we boardgamed (Small World) until N came down in the van and drove me up to Winchester for the nth annual December 23rd Party. W having moved into a new house, we were shockingly not at his parents' for the first time in probably about 15 years: most of the regular attendees were there, as well A over from Canada for Christmas very excitingly, and the wine flowed, although how conducive it was to W's young son sleeping upstairs I don't know . . . We were staying over with L&S, although she hadn't made it out of bed by the time we drove off for Christmas with my family the next morning.
