Two Thursdays ago, D&P got together the former Vauxhallites and remnants of London roleplayers at the Vauxhall Griffin (despite what they'd done to it) and it was lovely to have such a gaggle of people all together. On Friday evening I only ventured as far as The Monarch, timing it so I just saw Big & The Fat, who I kept on missing when they were playing, then headed home again.

It was gloriously sunny on the Saturday and I managed to walk home from some blood tests at the Royal Free (for my 40+ health check) across the Heath and Golders Hill Park (where I keep forgetting there are lemurs!) to be home in time for the mattress my school friends clubbed together to get me to be delivered. In the afternoon I headed down to London Bridge to meet up with N and we went along to Maltby Street Market for our friend Bobby's birthday, which was a nice discovery that (together with the tap rooms around Bermondsey) we didn't know about and his friends were really nice.

I'd stayed at N's so headed home in the morning to pick up supplies en route to Lisa's traditional birthday BBQ: there were only a few of us this year, the Badgers having started to have kids and move away, but we managed to hack a clearing in the jungle of her garden. It was still really sunny on Monday so I stopped off to read in Hyde Park (which I've re-started walking through on my way to work on non drop-in days) on my way home.

Then Tuesday, after much juggling of plans, I ended up going to see Colour Haze at The Garage with N's housemates, they play long, largely instrumental stoner rock pieces and had a real mesmerism that drew me in. We managed to make Aberrant happen on Wednesday and then N came over Thursday evening for food and hanging out with M and a crossword.

After saying goodbye to my elusive house-guests in the morning, I hung around after work on Friday and went straight to the Notting Hill Arts Club which had a collection of four fairly disparate acts playing: I got there halfway through promising guitary stuff from Novatines, next up was a female singer called Mallory with a backing track and a drummer, then Barney Goodall who had strong vocals and an uplifting, synthy band. I was there for The Velvet Hands, who I'm still really enjoying.
