Through every station, through every town

satyricaLast weekend was pretty packed: Kiki was over from Sweden (although, as with other friends who've moved abroad, it didn't really like she'd moved away, just that we hadn't met up for a while) so we went to the V&A just as it opened and poked around some of its galleries for a bit before wandering up through Hyde Park in what was left of the snow. Next I headed up to Tottenham where N was still working on the fourth and final show of this year's musicals and caught the matinee performance of Sweet Charity, which I really enjoyed, the central performance being especially impressive.
I was seeing some bands in the evening and had hoped to pop home for a bit first but travel plans thwarted me so I trailed my way down to the Water Rats and ended up glad to have got there early as first band on, young lads The Lodgers were really good; next up was Nadia Sheikh, some friendly uni-mates of whose got chatting to me in the crowd, but I’d come for Calva Louise and The Velvet Hands, both of whom I’m still enjoying.
I headed out earlyish on Sunday too to have brunch in Stoke Newington with N and our friend T, then we went down and poked around town for a bit before I spent some time at home. In the evening I was back down at the Prince Charles Cinema to catch a showing of Get Out with J&E, which was good fun.
Our dinner meet-ups with school friends had been becoming more irregular than ever, despite F’s best efforts to organise one, but we settled for four of us getting together on the Monday at a really good Chinese in Camberwell, then the pub afterwards. Work had got pretty stressful again, mostly as I was going on holiday and was trying to get as much as possible done in preparation for being away for a week, just as lots of stuff seemed to be going on, so I stayed pretty late on Tuesday but then left it all behind to fly out to Venice.
