Work continues to be busy, which is generally not a bad thing but stresses me out when everyone's wanting me at once: i used to have a reputation for calmness at work but i suspect i'm rapidly divesting myself of that. Historically things quieten down after the shelters close at Easter but the way things are going politically i'm not sure whether that will be the case. No doubt many of you will have seen that W$*!minster are at it again: I'm slightly surprised that everyone's focussing on the soup run angle (an agenda of theirs that's been rumbling on for a few years) rather than the rather more startling (to me) move of trying to pass a by-law that would actually make sleeping on the streets itself illegal.

Away from work things have been fairly chilled: had some much needed drinks with S in Clapham on Thursday night before catching True Grit which was enjoyably stylistic as per the Coens' usual MO. Then the weekend was very domestic- gardening, baking, a whole afternoon spent in a Ladywell cafe with the papers, only venturing into town to do some databasing for Bent Bars on Sunday afternoon; the idyll was only mildly tarnished by having to work for a few hours on Saturday evening and some glimpses of possible romance [the first time i've felt stirred in that direction for a long while] evaporating when it came to the crunch.

I thought of you when I posted the article re West**** new ideas. I think it's outrageous that they should consider trying to pass a by-law that outlaws sleeping rough, instead of investing more to tackle the issue.

This country has gone into serious free fall since the Coalition came in. Everyone is now running scared that they will be the next to feel the chop, that it's got to "as long as it's not me, Im gonna shove my head in the sand and hope it all goes away" I have lost all respect for the LibDems but I fear now that most others have too, we will not get another general election because the LibDens are worried they will (rightly) get crucified...

This sucks!!!
