and the same when autumn comes
Sep. 17th, 2008 01:46 pmhad a pretty quiet weekend after Club Antichrist (which I largely enjoyed: dancing, good crowd, some chaotic live music; the flirting with fetish and Circus of Horrors left me kinda cold though- sword swallowing, fire breathing, contortionism etc. are still impressive each subsequent time you see them, I'm just not convinced they're that interesting)- went to a chilled out house party for DT's birthday (unsurprisingly, people really aren't so motivated to make the effort for their/other people's thirty first birthday,) then traipsed around London in a similar manner to the previous week on the Sunday.
I went to see Longview at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen last night, although K's childcare fell through at the last moment which really sucked as she was the one who introduced me to them. Both the support acts, Swimming and Kaiko were decent, although the former impressed me more (I even bought an EP which I never do) and Longview themselves were magnetic. They had released one fantastic album and then seemed to disappear for four years but played mostly new material (to some grumbling from audience members near me) which I enjoyed, it didn't quite seem to have the lushness of their old stuff but that may have just been unfamiliarity. The venue was nice too and had less Shoreditch twat about it than I was expecting.
