tonight had JUST FUCKING GO written by the London Coalition Against Poverty meeting in my diary as I've been not-quite-making-it for about three months now; clearly I failed again but work left me in no mood to do anything other than come home and try to chill out: Old-New-Temporary-Manager is being pretty succesful in turning the organisation into less of a shambles, unfortunately he's the most stressful man in the world to work with, being himself permanently stressed, as well unable to let you get on with anything without interfering: a particularly hectic morning of him was followed by another afternoon spent in queues at the Polish Consulate- it was two hours before we got into the building, mainly (it seemed) due to our lack of a baby to tote aggressively at the security guard, I knew they had to be good for something . . .

have had a good week for seeing more grassrootsy bands (by which I guess I mean your mates playing in the backroom of a pub)- went to a Ladyfest benefit on Monday and saw Tiny Tigers, Soeza (who my more ear-to-the-ground muso friends love but were a bit arty for me, bonus points for having a french horn though) and Betty & the Werewolves plus a gorgeous voiced girl-with-guitar who opened but whose name wasn't on the flier, which is a shame cos I thought she was best of all (okay, okay, she did a Leonard Cohen cover . . .) Then Wednesday night I went down to Croydon (yes, Croydon!) and saw My Pet Junkie who were okay, quite prog-rock which I don't mind but never seems to hold my attention, then Kobayashi who were both very good and had the sound of a band that might well Make It (not always the same thing . . .)

Seems to have been a week for significant beginnings and endings otherwise: I'm trying to make my personal life less of a mess and have heard that my brother's got engaged, which is cool cos it distracts from the fact that I'm never going to be the cause of any event of general familial joy. Hopefully they'll have babies.

In other news, I still want a wormery. Are you *sure* none of you live in Southwark and want to take advantage of their subsidised composting facilities on my behalf?? I checked out CAT and they're nearly £100 full price :-(

JUST FUCKING GO? I love it. Soo many wonderful protests, so little time and energy.
