cool weekend so far: went back to Sin City for the first time in forever with
sea_cucumber and a bunch of people she's listed (most of whom tick the 'Egham People' box in my brain but actually seemed quite a disparate group)- there was much dancing to cheesy metal and then I got kidnapped by Hungarians and made to play endless games of table football
then last night to Behind Bars with T. which was cool but frustrating too: the event was awesome, well, for once the performances I caught weren't that great but it was rammed and buzzing, but I's acutely conscious that had I gone to an equivalent event in Sydney, after living there for a year, there would have been a whole bunch of people I could talk to whereas in London, despite having been sporadically involved in that scene for six or so years, there were only a couple of people there I knew, and at this stage I don't really see that changing, which is a downer cos it's exactly the community I would like to be part of [in addition, not instead of etc.]- what I need is a C. who will take pity on me & welcome me as a foreigner in my own city; ended up pretty nackered too & leaving (relatively) early
have hung out at Ben Crouch's, the Jugged Hare & Trash Palace (after its slightly alarming revamp) amongst these, caught up with
ketchgirl,
stealthracer and enjoyed the eerie quiet outside of
barty's flat, have failed to make two Burma-related demos though; today I chill out here and try to get to bed before 4am
one thing I did like about last night [just in case there's anyone left on my flist I've not alienated yet] was coming home smelling of smoke; there's something incredibly powerfully and nostalgically erotic about coming back on your own to your room after a night out and in the dark stripping off clothes that smell of other people's smoke
