satyricaback at work for the first time in ages: with Prague trip, illness and use it or lose it holiday taking I've only been here a few days since Easter; last day of being AWL was busier than anticipated though which was cool
got a knock on the door whilst I's still in my boxers which led to me spending the morning skittering at the Queensway ice rink; first time I'd been on ice since a rather optimistic foray into midnight ice hockey (without actually ever having learnt to ice skate) in my first year as an undergrad but I only fell over once and was certainly considerably better at the end than I was at the beginning.
then in the afternoon I saw Tarnation at the Ritzy which I really enjoyed: perhaps healthily (and unlike Capturing the Friedmans) the most traumatic life events and their effects hadn't been caught on camera so you were left seeing the marginalia of a fractured life through the snippets of everything in between, which was kinda undramatic whilst remaining uncomfortably voyeuristic. I was fascinated and it was definitely a unique cinematic experience but may not be everyone's kinda thing. Unfortunately it also fed into a lot of my usual sadnesses but since I got away with minimal angst from a trip to my parents' I guess I was due some.
and in the evening I met up with the Syngellakes (almost certainly the loudest friends I possess) in a pub in Holborn which was really nice: lots of fun chats, not least Kat's continuing problems in finding a bloke with bigger biceps than her.
