I don't remember details but there were English boys with banjos

Last week was pretty quiet: N came over on the Tuesday and we met for a drink in Borough Market after I finished work on the Thursday, then I was off away to Empire on Friday. There was lots to enjoy about the event: a good night out with my group Friday, then more doing my own thing (seeing TP, going to Songs & Stories) on Saturday night and it was liberally scattered with people it was nice to see. On the other hand, the weather inevitably threw a curve ball: it wasn't the heat we'd dealt with for weeks or the first rain in months that really caused problems (all we got was a fairly constant drizzle on Sunday) but the unexpected winds which downed our awning and broke my tent poles. That tent has done me proud and I'm probably overdue a new one but the timing was awkward as I'm camping the next two weekends too. I had some things to do but I'm not really any closer to engaging significantly with the game either and some of my group were having a difficult time. I did get home much earlier than usual on Sunday though (thanks to PFW), which helped a lot.

This week N & I had dinner chez Ketch in Oval on Monday, then Tuesday I went over to his for another BBQ with various housemates, their family and friends. I have actually turned down the possibilities of socialising Wednesday and (other than a drink after work with N) today to catch up with home stuff. The drop-in has just closed for its summer break: the casework's been pretty manic up the end and I don't have much hope for doing half the catching up I need to do in August but my new boss finally starts in September so I guess that's the time to start trying to sort this all out.
