a love song may not be suitable or right
Aug. 13th, 2011 11:31 amI've had a week of happy sociability: I's up in Uxbridge for Unknown Armies on Monday night when lots of people got in touch to let me know what was going on in Lewisham, but happily by the time I got back nothing was in evidence at all, certainly on the route between the station and my house. The nearest I did get to any unfortunate excitement was on Tuesday after catching up with
hysteria74 and Kate A, back from their incredible adventures, at a pub down by the river, (a scene that, with the sun setting picturesquely over the Thames, seemed a world away from any sense of a city experiencing unrest)- as I headed back to Hammersmith station the whole place was just closing up with security staff warning us "The rioters are coming" but the media reported that as a peaceful night so I'm not aware of there actually being any trouble.
I've been continuing to make the most of our other visiting antipodeans: convening at The Lovely Griffin (which is still lovely) with Vauxhall people on Thursday night and heading out again to Popstarz (with the addition of
turtledisc) last night. They're currently asleep in the living room: I would chain them up to stop them leaving again but that may make it hard to take them clubbing . . .
